Today we went on a family road trip to Hastings Point, Northern New South Wales, with some retail therapy at Harbour Town on the way south. It was a lovely day out, the water was beautiful and blue and a family game of beach soccer was most enjoyable and a good way to work off our fish & chips devoured at lunch!

Happy Anniversary
In the pouring rain we took a walk together and reflected on our 19 years of married life… the botanical gardens were as stunning today as they were in 1992 on Xmas Eve when we married….
…and the view from our room yesterday & last night at the Stamford Plaza Hotel Brisbane was equally timeless.
At Xmas time there is much to be thankful for but mostly I’m thankful for this time together and for the love of our two daughters.
Merry Christmas.

Thank you Secret Santa
I scored well this year in my Secret Santa work swap this week. Someone knows I have the travel bug and these will come in very handy indeed.
Cute & Delicious
This little one is from a Melly & Me pattern called Hooty & Tweet and his companion is one of my new favourites, Yellowglen Vintage Bella.
My eyes go a bit like this too after 2 glasses of this very nice wine! Tis the season……

It’s not all about Fabric all of the time……
The day began with an early morning breakfast date in West End
Then this afternoon I did a little beading, adding some loops to some trinkets I bought at the last craft show. They’re ready for necklaces now.

SCQuilters Brisbane Xmas Do
Saturday was the last time for 2011 that we met for our monthly get-togethers.
There was food, fun and photos and as usual, quite a few laughs plus a gift swap.
Judging for the best Xmas outfit by Karen from The Quilters Store (thank you for the prizes to!) with most going to some last minute effort, complete with someone borrowing the Xmas Tree Skirt to wear!
A lovely fabric tree by Julie who brought along many Xmas items she has made over the years – I didn’t photograph them – doh!
The gift I received in the Xmas swap – thank you secret santa! Such a lot of effort to to make this lovely sewing caddy and the beautiful Rose Box it came with was a lovely bonus.

Wonderful Retreat Weekend
A detour to Gatton’s Christmas in the Country Show on the way to retreat where there was a shopping frenzy going on!
The pic is out of focus a little because I was in a rush to get back down amongst it LOL!
Then to Retreat where the fun was about to really begin…
My friend Julie is always on hand to help with collecting a prop!
Some of the items I made on the weekend.
Then before I knew it, it was Sunday afternoon and time to pack up and take the road to home with the retreat location hidden up in the hills…..
Craft Show Brisbane October 2011
A wonderful show with many great ideas and SO much inspiration with all the demonstrations etc.
This is the booty I that came home with me, which my daughter helped me collect, including the Sew Ezi sewing table that I’ve had my eye on for some time.

Wet Saturday, so I made 8 Quilts
Yes, all eight and all finished today.
Now here’s the…big picture….
I did make all 8 today but they’re miniatures as you can see!
Inspired by a Gift
Julie made me the smaller version for my birthday this year. Last weekend I made the pink version to also join me when I travel.
My family asked if it was a tissue box cover (with a zip?) and one daughter quipped that I’d entered my Grandma phase. What a Cheeky lot they are!

Xmas comes early
I’m a huge fan of Cinderberry Stitches. This is her design and was a delight to make.
Little Projects Completed
The bowls are to be an addition to my desk to hold paperclips and sticky note pads.
The store card holder was a little project I made this afternoon. One wasn’t enough, this is my second!
1st Ever Quilting attempt - exposed!
I can’t remember where I first saw this Christine Book (based on) pattern 10+ years ago when I first attempted patchwork’ but I was to become hooked. I’m so glad I was spurred on by my friend Tricia who introduced me to Craft Shows and all the right tools to do a much better job!

Saturday afternoon date
Hubby saw a story on TV last weekend about a little shop at Newstead called Dello Mano. He asked if I’d like to visit so today it was a date! Who says no to visiting a chocolate shop????
This Pistachio & Rosewater hand made Brownie made it all the way home. Wonders will never cease!
(sorry for the out of focus pic, my withdrawal tremors are triggered around chocolate!)

Life is Beautiful
A Travel Journal Cover – but I think I might find some ric-rac or similar to ‘dress’ the outside circle edge. Perhaps it’s a bit wonky because I was hand stitching at midnight?
I do love Cosmo Seasons Variegated range of threads.

Big Quilt Completion
After being undecided as to how I would quilt my quilt top, I bit the bullet and sent my Spinning Charms Quilt to Koolkat Quilting in Toowoomba. Kathy at Koolkat suggested a couple of quilting designs, from which I chose ‘sticky buns’. Brenda from Widebacks emailed me several backing suggestions of which I liked Black Chrysanthemums on White. I bound it in a Black Homespun. Today was it’s first outing as my ‘show and tell’ to my monthly quilting meeting at The Quilters Store in Salisbury.
While at the The Quilters Store I purchased some Hobbs Iron-On Cotton Wadding which I look forward to trying out soon on a smaller quilt top.

Birth Wall Quilt
On this lovely long weekend while getting over the flu, I finished of a little quilt for my sister’s new baby boy and my first nephew who is already 3 months old. She doesn’t sew and therefore wouldn’t know the effort put in to make this but I started this tradition with the birth of my first niece and felt obliged to continue with….
. I’ve packaged a thumb tac in with it for posting off today, so hopefully this makes it up on the wall?
I quite like how it looks with the light behind it thanks to very colourful backing fabric.
This one…who knows what happened to it when it reached it’s destination…..
And another early addition to my tradition. Perhaps I should have kept to this same style for all of them?
